Spacer bolt combines two separate parts into one pre-assembled, low-cost fastener. With spacers under the head, spacer bolt is fast, permanent, and easily adaptable to many applications. In contrast, a spacer is an unthreaded piece of tubing that lets the entire bolt pass through. Since they cannot be tightened, they are usually round. An External Torx version exists, where the screw head has the shape of a Torx screwdriver bit, and a Torx socket is used to drive it. The external “E” Torx nominal sizing does not correlate to the “T” size, (e.g. an E40 socket is too large to fit an E40, while E8 Torx socket will fit a T40 Torx bit).
