Terminal screws are one type of SEMS screws. The wire may be wrapped directly under the head of a screw, may be held by a metal plate forced against the wire by a screw, or maybe held by what is, in effect, a set screw in the side of a metal tube. The wire may be directly stripped of insulation and inserted under the head of a screw or into the terminal. Otherwise, it may be either inserted first into a ferrule, which is then inserted into the terminal, or else attached to a connecting lug. which is then fixed under the screw head. Ever Hardware provides custom-made fasteners and customizable packaging.

SEMS screw combines two separate parts into one pre-assembled, low-cost fastener. With washers under the head, SEMS screw is fast, permanent, and easily adaptable to many applications.

A washer is a thin plate (typically disk-shaped) with a hole (typically in the middle) that is normally used to distribute the load of a threaded fastener, such as a screw or nut. Other uses are as a spacer, spring (Belleville washer, wave washer), wear pad, preload indicating device, locking device, and to reduce vibration (rubber washer). Washers usually have an outer diameter (OD) about twice larger than their inner diameter (ID).
Washers are usually metal or plastic. High-quality bolted joints require hardened steel washers to prevent the loss of pre-load due to Brinelling after the torque is applied. Washers are also important for preventing galvanic corrosion, particularly by insulating steel screws from aluminum surfaces.
