Low Profile Machine Screws Shoulder Smooth head Stainless Steel

The low profile machine screws are commonly used in machine parts, die fixturing, and clamping. The flat socket head enables driving where there is not sufficient space for wrenches or sockets and allows the screw head to sit flush with the surface. Button socket cap screws offer a wider bearing surface and high tensile strength but are still low profile like other socket cap screws. The shoulder bolt is a screw with an unthreaded shoulder that is larger in diameter than the threads. Also known as stripper bolt. The cylindrical shoulder that allows for the rotation of attached parts like pulleys, gears, moving parts of engines and mechanical assemblies, and rolling wheels. Shoulder bolt also used to attach stripper plates. The socket head enables high torque fastening with limited clearance.

Stainless steel does not readily corrode, rust or stain with water as ordinary steel does. However, it is not fully stain-proof in low-oxygen, high salinity, or poor air-circulation environments. There are different grades and surface finishes of stainless steel to suit the environment the alloy must endure. Stainless steel is used where both the properties of steel and corrosion resistance are required. Stainless steels contain sufficient chromium to form a passive film of chromium oxide, which prevents further surface corrosion by blocking oxygen diffusion to the steel surface and blocks corrosion from spreading into the metal’s internal structure. Passivation occurs only if the proportion of chromium is high enough and oxygen is present.
